Factorize :-

OpenStudy (goformit100):

\[3x^2 - x -10\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Factors out to (3x+5)(x-2), 5*2=10, and 5+-6=-1

OpenStudy (goformit100):

How did you do that ? I am weak at this.

OpenStudy (goformit100):

Please explain me.

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

usually I just pray and answers just appear in front of me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

master product rule... multiply a and c (3)(-10) = -30 look for factors that sum to b = -1 these factors are -6 and 5. rewrite the middle term \[3x^2-x-10 \Rightarrow 3x^2-6x+5x-10\] factor by grouping: \[\Rightarrow 3x^2-6x+5x-10= (3x^2-6x)+(5x-10)= 3x(x-2)+5(x-2)\] \[\Rightarrow 3x^2-x-10 =(3x+5)(x-2)\]

OpenStudy (nincompoop):

product rule: u'v+uv'
