Anyone know anything about taking a logarithm with a matrix as the base?

OpenStudy (unklerhaukus):

interesting

Yeah, just sort of bored thinking of things. I know you can raise square matrices to powers fairly easily, so this isn't that unreasonable. Another fun thing is you can raise a matrix to a power like e^A if A is a square matrix, by using the power series representation. It's even easier if A is diagonalizable, since then you can just do e^a of each entry of the diagonal basically. Anywho, just looking to learn and play around with some fun math tonight if anyone's interested in contributing some ideas about linear algebra or anything for that matter really.
