Thomas Jefferson was concerned that the treaty formalizing the Louisiana Purchase A. was clearly illegal. B. would place an unfair tax burden on American citizens. C. would invite French hostility. D. might be unconstitutional. If y'all could help me out a bit, surely appreciate it a lot.

I think it's D, because nowhere in the Constitution does it state a President can purchase land to expand the country. He then (with his advisers) decided to say that it was his right to make treaties that was used to get the land

I know it is not an answer bu t in my opinion that Thomas Jefferson was concerned that the treaty formalizing the Louisiana Purchase would lead to war. Because he was an anti federalist president
