Quadratic equation question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

F^2+300⋅F⋅cos50−17,500=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

solve for f?

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

Do you know how to complete the square?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no maybe quadratic formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if a=1,b=192.83(300 x cos50), c=17,500? will it be sufficient?

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

well you can solve it two different ways, either complete the squares or use quad formula. I would use the quad form in your case. You will obtain two solutions a positive # and a negative #.

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

Do you know how to apply the quadratic form?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well yes just plug in those a,b,c values to the quadratic formula?

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

yep

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

Do you have a graphing calculator? like a ti89

OpenStudy (raffle_snaffle):

you can check your work with a graphing calculator as well to see if you obtained the correct answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i do have one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the calculator says it has no real solution
