@nyk The theorem you need for this problem is the following: The segment joining the midpoints of two sides of a triangle is parallel to and has half the measure of the the third side. That means that BD = (1/2)* AE 3x + 5 = (1/2) ( 4x + 20 ) --> Solve for x.
