If the allele for brown eyes (B) is dominant to the allele for blue eyes (b), what will be the possible genotypes of a person with brown eyes?

OpenStudy (rina.r):

Two possibilities:- Man could be BB or Bb (homozygous or heterozygous respectively) ONE Father = BB Woman (mother) has to be bb (as b is recessive allele, it can only result in phenotype of blue eyes if homozygous (both alleles the same). Children:- Bb OR Bb (all children will have brown eyes and be heterozygous). TWO:- father = Bb Children: Bb OR bb OR bB OR bb Therefore, in this 2nd case, half the children will have brown eyes (Bb = heterozygous) and half = blue eyes (homozygous recessive). Hope this helps.
