Need some Good opinion!

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

So I have this International Chemistry Bowl coming up and need to prepare for it. Now as it is chemistry and is based on the 'General Chemistry' [That is what the organizers said] , I really do not know how to go about preparing for it! I need as much help as I can get from my OS friends. What would you suggest I learn? Please post any good pdfs or web links to help! Thanks a lot! :D

mathslover (mathslover):

First of all, good luck for your exam in advance! Here is the link where you can find the best chemistry books if you want : http//libgen.org Just search for Chemistry or the topic you want to study.

OpenStudy (rina.r):

Good Luck:) @chmvijay will be the best person to help u with this.

mathslover (mathslover):

@chmvijay @aaronq and also @Preetha - are some of the chemistry experts who can help you in specific problems.

OpenStudy (rane):

yh @mathslover is right we have some chemistry experts on OS, you would get the maximum help you need from them

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Thanks guys!! :D But it is a quiz, so... :/ I'll just check with our OS Chem Masters! :D Thanks for that link @mathslover !

OpenStudy (rina.r):

welcome:)

OpenStudy (rane):

anytime :) @AkashdeepDeb

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

:D

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

Any kind of help you from my side are welcome :) As i don't know what exactly it mean International Chemistry Bowl, i guess some type of quiz :) for any such type of stuff you should know the basic fundamental of chemistry i .e to have clear picture of concepts of chemistry and some breakthrough discoveries in chemistry and their application in day to day life :) All the best and get well prepared :)

mathslover (mathslover):

Well one more thing, you can remember the Common names of the chemical compounds like Gypsum , Plaster of Paris, quick lime, lime water, washing soda, baking soda, formaldehyde , acetone , wood spirit, grain spirit , etc. Generally in quiz, they may ask you for the chemical formula and IUPAC names of such compounds.... by naming their common names! Well, questions like Who discovered Oxygen may be asked too as it is a quiz. Depending upon the level of the quiz and as the name suggests it should be of much higher level, so you just need to get your concepts right. Answer the questions there by first thinking about it and then go for it, don't answer the quest. in hurry. One question that I love most : Which was the first organic compound made by humans in laboratory ? The correct answer of this question is Urea. (\({C H_4 N_2 O \space \text{or} \space N H_2 CO N H_2 } \) )

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Thanks guys! That was some REALLY GOOD ADVICE! :D

OpenStudy (goformit100):

I would advice you to close this question, mainly because I believe it is better if you message all your friends personally ask for it. And also because OpenStudy is Universal.

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

LOL! :'D

OpenStudy (abb0t):

stoichiometry, electrochemistry, thermochemistry, and basic inorganic chemistry, including bonding, VSPER, basic M.O theory and so forth.

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Thanks @abb0t. Very luckily, I learnt all that this term in my school!! :D But for objective quizzing, anything else? :)

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Btw, stoichiometry also includes balancing, dimensional analysis, and conversions. Just to be clear. But if you know it, you should be fine. Best of luck.

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Thank you! (y)

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

@AkashdeepDeb Good Luck! :D

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

Thanks! @charlotte123 :D

OpenStudy (rane):

thats alot of great ideas you'r getting @akashdeepDeb

OpenStudy (luigi0210):

Best of luck @AkashdeepDeb :)

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

I wish you all the best for your EXAM. ADVICE:- Just clear your fundamental doubts.

OpenStudy (akashdeepdeb):

@RANE ! Yeah! :D @Luigi0210 and @mayankdevnani Thanks guys! Fundamentals - Got it. :)
