OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have 1/3x+5=9 so then you subtract 5 from both sides and multiple by three. it would look like this.. 1/3x+5=9 1/3x=4 x=12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(1/3)x+5=9 (1/3)x=4 x=12 1/3x+5=9 1/3x=4 1=12x 1/12=x
