sin(2x-1)=1/2

OpenStudy (ranga):

take arcsin (or inverse sine) on both sides. Solve for x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how?

OpenStudy (ranga):

you can do it on your calculator or Google calculator. Or you can look up trig tables and see when sine is 1/2.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when sin equals to 1/2 ~~ what ab sin 30 degree?

OpenStudy (ranga):

I would do it in radians.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually I forgot this part~~ Is it asking to answer in form of a+bi for it's a degree? Or is it asking for something else?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ranga please write me answer in radians :) if you can.

OpenStudy (ranga):

sin(2x-1)=1/2 (2x-1) = arcsin(1/2) = pi/6 or 5/6pi or multiples of +/- 2n(pi) add 1 to both sides 2x = 1 + pi/6 or 1 + 5/6pi divide by 2 x = 1/2 + pi/12 or 1/2 + 5/12pi I have only considered arcsine in the domain [0, 2pi] But I will leave it to you to do the multiples of +/- 2n(pi)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you are great!

OpenStudy (ranga):

glad to be able to help.
