Based on the poem, which words would the poet use to describe love? precious but mysterious short-lived and fickle understandable but strange well-worn and comfortable
hey @blondie117, can you write the poem? otherwise we cant answer that because it says based on the poem.
I agree with Ichiro ~ Without the poem ~ It's hard to figure out the answer! LOL
"A Valentine" by Edgar Allan Poe For her this rhyme is penned whose luminous eyes, Brightly expressive as the twins of Leda, Shall find her own sweet name, that nestling lies Upon the page, enwrapped from every reader. Search narrowly the lines!—they hold a treasure Divine—a talisman—an amulet That must be worn at heart. Search well the measure— The words—the syllables! Do not forget The trivialest point, or you may lose your labor And yet there is in this no Gordian knot Which one might not undo without a sabre, If one could merely comprehend the plot. Enwritten upon the leaf where now are peering Eyes scintillating soul, there lie perdus Three eloquent words oft uttered in the hearing Of poets, by poets—as the name is a poet's, too, Its letters, although naturally lying Like the knight Pinto—Mendez Ferdinando— Still form a synonym for Truth—Cease trying! You will not read the riddle, though you do the best you can do. Based on the poem, which words would the poet use to describe love? precious but mysterious short-lived and fickle understandable but strange well-worn and comfortable
@ichiro
To me, it gives a impression of precious but mysterious. This poem was actually written by Edgar Allan Poe to show his affection for Frances Sargent Osgood. And you can find her name in the poem by taking first letter from first line, then the second letter of the second line, then the third letter of the third line and so on. In its first publication, it had the title "To Her Whose Name Is Written Below." @blondie117
I actually chose that one a few days ago, after reviewing the poem multiple times, that's what seemed best. & yes, I love that about her name. :) It's so interesting, but thank you anyways! :)
Gave you a medal! @ichiro
Any time. @blondie117
