Ok, I'm not quite sure, but can I convert these into x+2=y and 3x is smaller than 4y-12 when I assume the age of Lenten is x and her bro's is y? If these equations r correct then you can solve these equations and I got 7 as the answer.

trix16, I'd like to suggest that you again re-write this problem for submission, making certain that you provide enough information to set up EQUATIONS.  When you say that Lenten IS 2 years younger than her brother, you imply the equation L = B - 2 (because of the word IS).  However, "less than 4 times her brother's age diminished by 12" is neither an equality nor an inequality.  What variable is "less than 4 times her brother's age diminished by 12"?
