Dear King George III of Great Britain, I am writing to you because we are not happy about the way you have been treating our country. I write only after long thought about the many issues between us. Some issues and events of the last few years include the overly high taxing you’ve been giving us. You see, in the American colonies, we believe that the purpose of government is to have inalienable Rights. So the government should, therefore, follow the principles of John Locke, such as all men are created equal and and among that are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness. These ideas mean that we have our equal rights as one country. The role of government in natural law is to make sure the country is pleased with the government and is comfortable. Unfortunately, you have not lived up to these expectations as a ruler. One example of how you have disappointed us is that you're taking advantage of us by having overly high taxes. This affects our rights because America is our own state and does not deserve to be taken advantage of. Another example is the Intolerable acts. This affects our rights because of the punishment you gave us was too harsh. A third example is that we aren't representatives in parliament put yet we pay tax. This affects our rights because we deserve to be represented in the british government for that reason. Please remember that we did try to reason with you first. Remember when we repeatedly petitioned you, and then you just ignored us? Or, there was the time we went to go and try to stop the high taxing on the tea, and thats when you made the newest rules. Because you have failed to address our concerns, the American colonists are declaring complete independence from you and from your country, Great Britain. We are no longer going to trade goods with you and from now on, we will no longer use you for our trade route. Sincerely,
