Look up what the graph of cubic equations look like. Take the derivative of the function and set it equal to zero. It will be zero at a local max and min. To find the absolute max and min, that depends what they gave you as an interval. Check the endpoints of the interval and compare to the local max and min. See what is the biggest for the absolute max. Then the smallest will be the absolute min.
