OpenStudy (lena772):

An inconsistent system of equations is a system with __________. the same line parallel lines intersecting lines and lines that have the same equation intersecting lines and lines that have the same slope

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

inconsistent system = NO SOLUTIONS

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

which of the given options have NO SOLUTIONS ?

OpenStudy (lena772):

parallel lines?

OpenStudy (jonnyvonny):

Well, if you think about it, 3 of the answer say the EXACT same thing. So by process of elimination, the 1st one is the correct one. I can elaborate, if you wish.

OpenStudy (jonnyvonny):

Lol, sorry for seeming like a stalker; your post got bumped

OpenStudy (lena772):

So it's not parallel lines? :/

OpenStudy (jonnyvonny):

Well, 3 of the choices are saying parallel lines, so that's why I doubt it is that.

OpenStudy (lena772):

parallel lines never intersect

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

your intuition + answer both are correct !

OpenStudy (jonnyvonny):

The last one is actually physically impossible, because function with same slope yet different intercepts are parallel, yet its saying they intersect?...
