Is this the correct graph of this function y=1/2 x^2−x−6 http://i.imgur.com/enxGAJp.png

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you know what the meaning of roots in a graph?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

where the graph cuts the x-axis, the abscissa is the root and and if you insert the points in the eqn it'll give you 0 so you have to check the abscissa of those points

OpenStudy (alekos):

yes your graph is correct

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

\[y=\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }(x ^{2}-2x-3)=\frac{ 1 }{ 2 }(x+1)(x-3)\] So your graph has to cut the x-axis on the points (0;3) and (0;-1) like this: |dw:1385982669975:dw|
