whats the equation?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

The difference between a number (lets call it 'x') and 4.... this can be written as (x - 4) So what is TWICE this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x-8?

OpenStudy (johnweldon1993):

Well yes..but I dont think they want it expanded since they want the basic equation...so just 2(x - 4) and they say this is = to 20...so 2(x - 4) = 20

12?
