Give a formula for a function whose graph is described. Sketch it using a computer or calculator. A cone of a circular cross-section opening downward and with its vertex at the origin.
The graph of y = - |x| would look like that. I'm pretty sure that's what they are looking for.
Have you learned absolute values yet?
yes, im in college calc 2, i know what an absolute value is but how does that pertain to the question?
@ikram002p
They want the formula for a function. The function that would look like an upside down cone starting at (0,0) is f(x) = - |x|. Do you think that's what they're looking for? Picture holding a pointy snow cone cup upside down. The cone has a circulat cross section if you cut it straight. Look up conic sections to see the different ways to cut a cone.
oooh okay makes sense! thank you:) let me see what i can find!
z2=x2+y2 gives u two cone u wanna oly one so take root and make it negative z=-root(x2+y2)|dw:1386007738843:dw|
This looks better than my answer. Thanks ikram002p!
but still ur answer is correct cuz the cone need to be cuted :)
thank you omgsh!
