Is a Trumpet a good first wind instrument?

Trumpet is actually brass. Wind is like flute or recorder.

@RebelSon A trumpet is actually considered a wind instrument, you are probably thinking of Woodwind. 
Woodwinds are flutes, clarinets, ect. 

As for being a good first wind instrument, it is if you like the instrument. I advise that you listen to performers play a variety of the wind instruments before choosing one. Remember, you will probably be stuck with this instrument throughout your band career. So pick something you really like!!

I personally started with clarinet, but trumpet is easy to learn ( I play it too) so you should go for it!
