Can someone please explain postulates and theorems to me? And how they can prove two triangles are congruent? Like ASA, SAS, AAA, SSS, and HL?

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

You can't show that triangles are congruent with AAA

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

For example:|dw:1386007586932:dw| The two triangles have the same angles, but they have different lengths (it only shows similarity).

@kirbykirby Thats why I am asking. :( I don't understand these.

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

SSS means that you have all 3 corresponding sides of 2 triangles being equal. This means the the triangles are congruent (they have the same lengths and angles... they are identical) For example: |dw:1386007779957:dw| These two triangles are congruent by the SSS theorem

OpenStudy (kirbykirby):

For SAS: If 2 sides and the included angle of one triangle are the same as the corresponding sides and angle of another triangle, then both triangles are congruent.. For example: |dw:1386007950947:dw| Knowing the Side, Angle and Side (in that order) will establish that you have 2 congruent triangles (without having to know the other 2 angles, and the missing length)
