@kewlgeek555 What is the correct conjugation of the verb jugar? Vamos a _______ hoy . A. juega B. jugar C. juegas D. jugamos

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know that juega is used with yo , jugar is the original form and juegas is used with tu , jugasmos is used with nosotros.

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Okay, you are correct. But do you know what "vamos" is used for?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No , I do not .

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Yo voy Tu vas El va Ella va Usted va NOSOTROS VAMOS Ellos van Ustedes van Based on the information I gave you, what do you think the answer is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well is vamos is associated with nosotros then I would guess jugamos ? is that correct ?

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Oops! Oh, my god. I confused you. Ugh. It's B, jugar.

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

I really can't explain, though. @esshotwired

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't quiet understand how it is jugar can you explain ? Also I have a few more if you don't mind ?? I get confused on if Los means ellos or ello . ? can you help me with that ?

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Okay, I am going to try to explain:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright.

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

When using "vamos" and even the other words like "voy" and "van", you always use the original form. For example: "Voy a jugar" = "I am going to play" "Tu vas a jugar" = "You are going to play" "El va a jugar" = "He is going to play" "Ella va a jugar" = She is going to play "Usted va a jugar" = "You are going to play" "Ellos van a jugar" = "They are going to play" "Ustedes van a jugar" = "You guys are going to play" Here are some other examples: "Voy a pretender" = I am going to pretend "Vamos a pretender" = We are going to pretend So basically, it keeps the original verb form.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay !! I understand now . Thank you !! Can you help me with 3 more ?

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Of course.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Los muchachos __________ al futbol los sabados . A. juego B. juega C. juegas D. juegan I know it is either juega or juegan .. I don't know which one though .

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

it is jugar because 1. you already have the main verb that is conjugated (vamos) 2. the translation with jugamos would be we go we play a sport today, but with jugar it is we go to play a sport today. like jugamos means we play a sport and jugar means to play a sport so if you wanted to say i like to play a sport, you would say me gusta jugar. so all summed up, if you want to say to -fill in blank with verb- you would use the original form of the verb. does that make anymore sense? that is my explanation

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

The kids play soccer on Saturdays a. I play b. he/she plays c. You play d. they play

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Juegan because kids = they and los = ellos .. did I do that right ?

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Yes, it is.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is the second to last one possibly the last one .. A Enrique le gusta jugar __________ baloncesto. A. el B. A los C. a D. al

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

is it okay if i join in to help a little?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@kewlgeek555 I do not understand a + definite articles . @esshotwired yes I am open to ANY Help .

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Yes. :}

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

You can answer this one if you'd like @esshotwired :}

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

for this question, it would be D because you always have al between jugar and a sport in spanish.

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Okay, and you want an explanation of definite articles?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Used juega muy buien ________ juegos de mesa . A. a B. al C. a los D. el @esshotwired

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

This will help you with definite articles: http://www.studyspanish.com/lessons/defart1.htm

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@esshotwired I didn't understand those notes that were on your link . @kewlgeek555 I am going to look at yours now .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@esshotwired I have pretty much detemined al is not the answer .

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

yes, al is not correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@esshotwired if a Spanish word ends in a doesn't that mean it is feminine ?

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

yes, singular and feminine

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would the answer be a los ?

OpenStudy (kewlgeek555):

Well, I would say "los", but that is not one of the answer choices...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think I should go with a los ?

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

i say C bc it is not A or D. el does not go with words that end in -os and it cant just be a without an article. it also wouldnt be B bc that would mean it would be a el but same as before, el does not go with words that end in -os

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@esshotwired a los was correct . I made an 100 on the homework assignment , Thank you you guys C:
