Which is a solution of the equation

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

what is the equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2x-y=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=-2x

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

Welcome to OS! Now for your problem......2x-y=0 ---> y would be equal to 2x and 2x would be equal to y ^_^

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

try to get y alone so subtract 2x from both sides. so then you have -y=-2x then multiply both sides by -1 to cancel out the negative signs. so the answer is y=2x or you can reverse it to be 2x=y

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

Exactly!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(1,1) (2,-4) (1,2) (3,-1) these are the choices but I don't understand how to get the answer

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

oh! so with this you would plug an ordered pair to the equation and solve it. which ever one equals 0 is the correct answer. for example, plug in A 2x-y=0 2(1)-(1)=0 then solve it 2-1=0 1=0 so 1 does not equal 0 therefore A is NOT correct
