how does a bond affect the dissolving time? for example salt and sugar in water?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Salt has an ionic bond while sugar has a covalent bond. Know that ionic bond dissolve faster in water as compare to the covalent bond because it is easier to break ionic bond than covalent bond. Covalent bond tend to hold up the atoms and not willing to let go the atoms easily.
