What if there was a way to rate someone who helped you from 1-10 or rate someone with stars 1-5? It would show up on their profile with an average rating from all the people that rated their help. like with an app, and you rate it with stars. This way, someone that needs help from someone who is good at helping people can get better help.

OpenStudy (blues):

Intriguing. There is a nice, informal word-of-mouth feeling to the current system: become the person's fan and write them a nice testimonial. I am curious about how you see the details - would users only be able to give stars to users of whom they are fans? Would the ratings have any actual effect on a user's smart score or formal standing on OpenStudy?

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

someone can only rate the person if they have fanned them. maybe add that they gave a testimonial too, but that can be chosen by the tech people. also, there might be a page you can go to for highest rated people.

OpenStudy (charlotte123):

Sounds cools to me! All I need is a phone LOL

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

I do not really know if it should affect the smart score of the person. i guess that can also be determined by others.

OpenStudy (blues):

It is an interesting idea - but I don't know what it would add to the site that isn't already here. Users can already leave fan testimonials when someone is particularly helpful - and seeing how many fans someone has, reading their testimonials and seeing how many questions a person has asked/answered - as well as being able to review those responses and judge the quality of the tutoring - can already be done from the profile page. All of which should give a pretty good idea of what subjects someone can tutor or not, as the case may be. Thanks for bring it up. I'd be interested to know what the site administrators think. :)

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

Alright. Thanks so much! I know about the testimonials, but many people tell me they don't really read them. But then again, this is just a thought that I had.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

I know where you got this idea from, yahoo answers right? Rating with 5 stars and medals? Wouldn't that be a bit too much?

OpenStudy (♪chibiterasu):

I think this would work more as a reputation system. I predict that it would be abused to get yourself a good rating, or sabotage someone else's rating.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There are certain Pro's and Con's to this method as we are discovering, but it is a nice idea.

OpenStudy (esshotwired):

This is an original idea @SolomonZelman I had the idea pop in my head as I was updating my phone's apps. Like I said, it's just an idea that people can like or dislike. I'm not going to push for it. just asking for opinions.
