*Note: ✔️ = "square root" I need help deriving: du/dx of "u = (✔️3)x" Thanks to all who help me work through this! :) @agent0smith

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Just write it properly, without the weird box things...

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Yep, whatever you're writing, is not showing up correctly.

OpenStudy (amonoconnor):

Okay, my bad! Here's just text: I need the derivative of: (Sqrt3)*x

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Derivative of cx, where c is a constant, is c. Square roots are constants.

OpenStudy (amonoconnor):

Oh, oh oh! Okay, I get it... The square root doesn't need broken down/ simplified. Okay, you are amazing sir!

OpenStudy (amonoconnor):

So, in a similar situation, where I'm solving for dy/du of an algebraic expression, @agent0smith, would this be correct(?)... 10x - 5 (10)(x^(1-1) - (0) 10(x^(0)) 10(1) = 10

OpenStudy (agent0smith):

Yep.
