In a dihybrid cross between RrTt and RRtt, what are the genotype and phenotype ratios of the offspring, assuming R and T are dominant? R codes for round seed, while r codes for wrinkled seed. T codes for tall height, while t codes for short height. (Show your Punnett Square)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well you can say the genotypes of the following offspring are: RT, rt, Rt, Rt. From there, you can make your punnett square utilising these genotypes in which you can determined the phenotypes as well.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for that, so i did the punnett square, im stuck with the phenotype

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got the ratio to be 1:1:1:1

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

hi kene..do u still need help or u got the ans?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes!!! lol

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

yes what? yes u got d ans or yes u need help..lol:P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i need help pleaseeee

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) thanks

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

okay sure...so can u tell me d gametes of both the parents? can u show me how u drew d punnet?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how can i show u what u drew? lol

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

|dw:1386050015533:dw| did u get this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got this lol, im pretty lost so if im wrong im not surprised

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i send you a picture of what i did

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

yep u r right...its just that i wrote Rt only once..while u wrote it 4 times...actually u need not write it 4 times....so eventually u get the genotypic and phenotypic ratio as 1:1:1:1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

really? so i would only write it once?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the ratio is 1:1:1:1- is that the same as the phenotype ?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

yep....u write the phenotype of every gentoype then u will find out it comes to 1:1:1:1

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

|dw:1386050376108:dw|

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

can u complete this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i see!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Red-green colorblindness is an X-linked recessive mutation. A colorblind female is crossed with a normal male. What are the parental genotypes? Diagram the F1 results from this cross. (show punnett square). Diagram the F2 results. (show the punnett square).

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

whoops i wrote wrong..i meant phenotypic ratio is !:1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so pheno is 1:1? and geno is 1:1:1:1??

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

yep..:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thankssss

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

happy 2 help:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help me with one more?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

yes sure....

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

can u tell me d genotype of the parents?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Xc Xc XCY ?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

yep..u r absolutely write...its just that u dont need to write XCY...U Can write it as XY

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

So now show me d punnet...actually u know wat...u seem good at this...:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol i dont think so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but thanks

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

yep...believe me...i have helped a lot of people wid punnets....u seem good at it...

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

can u draw it how i drew earlier...use d draw tool below...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have trouble with the F1 and F2 punnets

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

ill help u out..dont worry wid dat...ok ill guide u a lil...i will draw d punnet u fill in the squares ok?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

|dw:1386051399325:dw|

OpenStudy (anonymous):

XXc Yxc

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

absolutely right..:) so can u tell me d phenotype of them?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im lost haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so this is where im confused at, the punnet i just filled out that is for f1? and what do i do for F2 bc thats the offspring right?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

okay np...see they have given colour blindness is recessive...so for a female to have colourblindness both the X should be xcxc correct? while for a man..there is only 1 X in his genotype..right? so if that 1 X is xc then he has colourblindness...ok?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

so now the boy with xcY would have colorblindness..rite?

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

and d girl Xxc would be normal....ok? with me so far?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes because the man has the colournlindness

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

cool...now in humans u lnow that u need a man and a women to get offsprings....and u have got both in the F1 cross...so take both of them find gametes and draw a punnet like we did earlier...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

so all clear? hope this helped.. and i see dat u r new to this site so i would suggest u to take a look at d code of conduct...:D

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct happy studying..:D
