Solve: -6.21 - 4.3t = 9.8(t + 2.1)

OpenStudy (xishem):

What have you tried?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's a tough one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 1,463.97 It looks wrong

OpenStudy (xishem):

First, you should expand all the terms:\[-6.21-4.3t=9.8t+(9.8)(2.1)\]

OpenStudy (xishem):

Then you just need to move all the t terms to one said and all the terms without t in them to the other side.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

shouldn't the answer be negative?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (xishem):

Did you get that far, tryder?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 0.794

OpenStudy (xishem):

Not quite. I'll do the problem a bit further. So from what we had before:\[-6.21-4.3t=9.8t+20.58\]We need to put the t and non-t terms on opposite sides:\[-26.79=14.1t\]Does that much make sense?
