Find the area enclosed between f(x) = 0.15 x^2 + 4 and g(x) = x, on the interval from x= -3 to x= 8

OpenStudy (amistre64):

do f and g cross any time within the interval?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@amistre64 no they do not

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if f=g, the f-g = 0 in this case becomes a quadrtic that we can root out to see if there is no intersection, then its just the integration of f-g from -3 to 8 the area will be an absolute value, so we can ignore any signs

OpenStudy (amistre64):

\[\int f-g~dx\] \[\large\int_{-3}^{8} .15x^2+4-x~dx\]
