The past three presidential elections have occurred while American soldiers were fighting (and dying) in combat overseas. So far, however, evidence shows voters have not penalized the incumbent party for failing to achieve peace. Comparing the Vietnam War to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, why might this be? 1.Voters are more scared of terrorism than they were of communism. 2.The recent wars led to far fewer fatalities than Vietnam. 3.The recent wars were considered "necessary." 4.The recent wars cost far less than Vietnam. 5.The recent wars have received less news coverage than Vietnam

What do you think it is? I'll reply with my answer after I see yours.

It's either 2 or 5. There have been a whole lot less casualties than 'Nam but also far less news coverage... American people have way more to worry about nowadays than war.

I think any of those answers could be correct. However, I would go with 1 or 3. People are more afraid of terrorism because the terrorism has hit us. The recent wars WERE much more necessary as they did affect us.
