Help please, explain how energy is explained in a heat pump

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We have a heat pump. Run in one direction it uses compression and release to cool the working fluid, wich goes through cols to cool the air, while the extracted heat is blown outside. Run in the other direction, and that warmer air is used in the house, while the cooling occurs outdoors.
