what is the unit & lesson?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use \[y=mx+c\] where \[m=(y _{1}-y _{2})/(x _{1}-x _{2})\] so\[m=(-1--5)/(4-2)=4/2=2\] therefore \[y=2x+c\]by substituting the values for y and x from one of your coordinates you can find 'c' \[(-1)=2(4)+c\]\[c=-1-8=-9\]therefore \[y=2x-9\]
