I am taking this test for the third time because my laptop keeps crashing and i don't remember the answers! Please help! I give medals! Why did the United States aid the efforts of Panamanian rebels who wanted independence from Columbia?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a. The Columbian government was refusing to repay large loans made by banks based in the United States. b. The Columbian government had blocked the United States' efforts to secure rights to the Panama Canal Zone. c. The Columbian government was communist, and the rebels promised to align their new country with the United States. d. The Columbian government had agreed to allow the Spanish to reestablish a presence in the Western hemisphere.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To stop the spread of communism. This all happened because of the Domino theory that if one country became communist, then all the rest around it would too.
