It may be a silly question for you all, but I am facing trouble to solve the following equation: T=X+skew*log(0.001*Pressure) Its a transformation equation from skew to Temperature and this equation is used in SkewT-Log P plot. My question is why 0.001 is multiplied with Pressure in the equation.

It seems done to make the units convenient for graph. log(0.001*pressure) = log(.001) + log(pressure) = -3 + log(pressure).

Thank you for your reply. You are correct. Actually I too get the reply from the writer of the script. According to him its just a convention so that when Pressure=1000hpa where log(1)=0, X is same as T in deg C.
