Ax + By + C = 0 2x + y = 6 (subtract 6 from both sides) 2x + y - 6 = 0 <=== standard form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops...I meant general form

OpenStudy (pixiedust1):

Oh I get it! So you wanna make both sides equal or simplified?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you do not want anything on the right side. so by subtracting 6 from both sides... 2x + y = 6 2x + y - 6 = 6 - 6 2x + y - 6 = 0 understand ?

OpenStudy (pixiedust1):

Oh yeah! Thanks!

OpenStudy (pixiedust1):

:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3x + y = 1 (subtract 3x from both sides) y = -3x + 1 correct...it is the first one

Here is a little tip : when you want to move something across the equal sign, just change the sign of the number you are moving. 4x + 5 = 10.....you want to move the 5 across the equal sign....just move it and change its sign...4x = 10 - 5

Oh cool! Thank you so much!
