I hate how everybody just gives somebody another equation to their physics questions. Why can't you just answer the question, my lord.

Equations summarize information tersely and hopefully unambiguously. Unfortunately, not all are clear. There is also some thought that getting the questioner to input effort to finish the problem is a better way of helping than just handing out the answer. Sometimes giving the answer is the goal. Sometimes teaching the process is.
