Which characteristic would you find in an mature community? A. High levels of biodiversity B. Large population sizes C. Low level of community stability D. Low level of competition

OpenStudy (blues):

For multiple choice questions, process of elimination works. For example, I would eliminate option C from consideration. Communities that have evolved over long periods of time tend to be very stable and, because very fine balances exist between different organisms, they tend to have very high levels of competition.

So maybe A @blues

OpenStudy (blues):

I agree - I like A too. I would also eliminate B because large populations tend to occur when one species is wildly successful at the expense of all the others - so that produces the sort of instability and lack of diversity consistent with monocultures and invasive species.
