Take 4 and the nine at the end multiply together and get 36. Then I factor 36 to get two numbers that equal -9. The only ones I see are 12 and 3 but they make -9 but not a positive 36.

Well then, it doesn't factor nicely. 

I'm assuming this is a quadratic not a cubic.
