can someone explain the advantages and disadvantages of the socio-medical model?

Advantages: Encourages people to live healthy Lifestyles and also it looks at the cause of the illness and tries to change the factor causes illness to prevent a re-occurrence instead of just sending the person away with a bottle of pills until next time. It prevents the conditions/diseases from happening in the first place.

Disadvantage: It takes time to look for factors effecting the illness and a prevention to stop it happening again.
