The average over the five years, would just be the sum of all the $ amounts, divided by the five years.
I thought it already showed the increase of 3% per year...
This doesn't make a lot of sense. Why do they list different $ amounts per year, if you're supposed to adjust for inflation?
I'd post the original question, because that seems odd.

But the question doesn't make sense. Are you meant to find the average, or find the average adjusted for inflation...?
