Solve the inequality –y < –2.
you need to isolate y to solve it. there is no possible way to get an exact value for y since it's an inequality, not an equation (with an equal sign) so... -y < -2 (take the negative to the other side, this changes the sign of the inequality) y > 2
wow thank you I get it now
no problem, medal please :)
do you mind answering another question?
sure, ican try
solve the inequality 48<-3x.
isolate y by dividing -1 to both sides. when you divide or multiply by a negative number, switch the sign.
@gideon737 48<-3x -16>x
so divide both sides by -3 to isolate x 48<-3x. (-48/3) < (-3x/-3) -16 > x (again, the sign flips since you are multiplying/dividing a negative)
thank you @rimshaa and @dalia_lam I just have one last question Which of the following is in the solution set of the inequality –28 < v – 16?
-28 < v -16 (take -16 to the other side, no sing flipping needed since it's just adding/subtracting) -28+16 < v -12 < v
thanks! @rimshaa
no problem
