What is the primary role of the respiratory system in living organisms? A. to make carbon dioxide B. to obtain oxygen C. to use up nitrogen D. to find hydrogen

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B. To obtain oxygen. Organisms cannot live without oxygen being brought into their bodies. Through respiration, the carbon dioxide that is being stored up in the body is released when you exhale and oxygen is being brought into your system when you inhale to be delivered to the blood stream which will in turn take it to the portions of the body in which it needs to go.
