Geometry help please? I suck with proofs. >.<
Statement Reason I Segment DE is parallel to segment AC. Slopes of parallel lines are equal. II The coordinates of point D are (4, 5) and coordinates of point E are (5, 3) By the midpoint formula III Slope of segment DE is -2 and slope of segment AC is -2. By the slope formula IV Length of segment DE is Square root of 5 and length of segment AC is 2 multiplied by the square root of 5 By the distance formula V Segment DE is half the length of segment AC. By substitution Which is the most logical order of statements and reasons for the proof? III, II, I, IV, V III, I, IV, V, II II, I, III, V, IV II, III, I, IV, V
I'm pretty lost, please help

Wow how helpful!!! lol
lol
I think it might be C? :(
@rdr006 please help :/
III come before I since I talks about slopes being equal III comes after you know the end points of DE because they are needed for slope formula
Are you given any thing known like whether DE is a bisector and what is it you are trying to prove? Knowing that should give you either the first or last step
No, there is no given, which ids why it seemed odd and difficult.
I figured III comes before I, so do you think it's C?
Is it trying to prove DE is half of AC, if it is then V is last
Cant be c in c III comes after I
It literally doesn't say what the proof is trying to prove. :/ It just gives the theorem, proof, and multiple choices.
I would go with D since III cot be the first thing you prove and since by the wording it sounds like V comes last
Do you think we can get the coordinates and D and E without getting the slope first?
because D puts II before III
You need the coordinates to get the slope and since the slope is not given, the formula uses the two points, so you would need to know either the slope and a point to find another point or use two points to find slope
Oh, you're right. I somehow thought it was reversed.
II fits well when placed befo II since it gives the points the only reason II wouldnt go first is if something else talked about proving DE were midpoints
so D would work
Yep Id go with D, glad to help!
Thank you!
I'll say whether it's right or not when i finish.
Yup, that's right!
