with regards to the UV catastrophe and Planck's law: the radiation emitted by the oscillators in the blackbody, is that due to the oscillators themselves being in higher energy states or the electrons in those oscillators being in higher energy states? i mean, the BB curve shows the emitted radiation … does this come from the electrons going to lower energy levels?
