I havent read niemolle's piece but i did read Whitman's piece, it's actually interesting since he was a Romantic writter so you might look for romantic qualities (individualism i believe was the main quality of Whitman's poem) and the way it's being written by the use of literary devices (imagery, simile, etc..)

After you are done with that, the question is actually asking you how each literary work from these two different people have a common theme?

Any theme you can come up with, support it
Ex. Individuals tend to ostracize themselves from the society...

Now explain why that theme is the same for both poems by using quotes.
