Hi everyone! :) Can you please help me with some of my work?! I started it and read over it and just need a few explanations. Just a little push start would be so greatly appreciated! I know i'm missing something from my lesson...idk what but it must have been important xD lol !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First, here is the existing map of current structures. It is important that the rollercoaster does not go through the foundation of any of these structures. Pick three points on the x–axis that the rollercoaster will dive underground or resurface. (Points that have a building on them are off-limits.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did this part.... 1. The rollercoaster will run from right to left, so work in that order when selecting points. 1st point:__(-6,6)____ 2nd point:_(0,6)_____ 3rd point:_(6,6)_____

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2nd point is (0, -6) **

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but i need help with this part :(( 2. Using those points as zeros, construct the polynomial function, f(x), that will be the path of your rollercoaster. Show all of your work. (now I know..or believe...that this is just f(x) = something....but how would I make this?)

OpenStudy (snowfire):

Oh this seems like a fun question, but I really have no time to help you, sorry. But if it helps, the amount of times it can cross the x-axis is equal to the highest degree of x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you. It helped a little. :)

OpenStudy (snowfire):

If you can imagine the graph of f(x)=x^2, it can cross the x-axis twice with the right conditions, but not all the time. It needs to be positioned so the minimum is below y=0.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, that is going to help when making the polynomial function for part 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my Y needs to = 0

OpenStudy (snowfire):

You would make the equation so that at whatever x you want y to be 0, y=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh okay. :) still a little confused but you are helping. do you know how i would take the 3 points and make the equation tho?

OpenStudy (snowfire):

It's been so long since I did this, so I don't think I'd be of much use. I might say something incorrect, so I'll be safe and refer you to someone else.

OpenStudy (snowfire):

@Luigi0210 You can take it from here, I believe in you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol ok thank you tho. :)

OpenStudy (ash2326):

@♥Love.Missy24♥ are you here?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry i had to get off :/ but do you think you could help me?

OpenStudy (pixiedust1):

I'm gonna tag some people who can help you :D You seem very hard working, and that is a great character quality. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so much! :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh my lol that is a lot of people!

OpenStudy (pixiedust1):

Yeah lol! It's everyone I know who is online :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol are any of them good at math cause i suck!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Could you help me with something?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is it? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u have lesson 8 unit 5 for algebra done?(:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i am still stuck on 04.05

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks anyway :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your welcome! :) Heyy you think you could help me??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not good at math its my worse subject

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aw :/ yea me two lol okay well thanks anyway!
