CAN A SIMPLE SENTENCE HAVE A COMMA?

OpenStudy (jagatuba):

Generally no. A comma usually separates clauses and a simple sentence can only have one clause and therefore, have no comma. However, there can be exceptions. The above sentence is one of those exceptions. It does have a comma to separate "however" (an introductory word) from the rest of the sentence, but the sentence still only has one clause and is therefore a simple sentence.
