please help!!!! trigonometric identities ((cotx-tanx)/(sinxcosx)

myininaya (myininaya):

What are we suppose to show it is equal to?

OpenStudy (runnergirl17):

it is supposed to equal csc^2x-sec^2x

myininaya (myininaya):

Try to write both sides in terms of sine and cosine

myininaya (myininaya):

I like looking in terms of sine and cosine

OpenStudy (runnergirl17):

ok. I have tried this problem like 15 times and I just can't get it

myininaya (myininaya):

Ok. Well can you do what I said? Write both sides in terms of sine and cosine?

OpenStudy (runnergirl17):

yeah I have it down as that right now but I cant get it to equal what it should

myininaya (myininaya):

Ok so you should have compound fractions on the left hand side of that equation. Right?

OpenStudy (runnergirl17):

yes

myininaya (myininaya):

Get rid of those mini-fractions inside that big fraction by multiplying top and bottom by sin(x)cos(x)

myininaya (myininaya):

after that step you shouldn't have a compound fraction

myininaya (myininaya):

Also can you type what you now have?
