I'm not even concerned about the absolute value. You need first to demonstrate the simpler algebra. Once you have done that, we can talk about the absolute values.

get the absolute value by itself, treating it like a variable. if that makes sense so do what he said at first and give me where you're at.

Rubbish. 2) If you mean formally sit down and write a cute little equation with an 'x' in it, that may or may not be true. If you mean the concepts you study in an algebra class, it is an idiotic statement. 3) Part of the purpose of the teaching of mathematics is to teach you to THINK logically, perhaps linearly, so that you can defend yourself out in the world. I guess "everyone" sees no point in thinking or in defending himself/herself. Utter foolishness. 4) If all you ever want to do is what is easy for you, please take a seat in the back of the bus and get out of the way so people with goals and visions and ambitions can move ahead of you even faster. Study mathematics. You will find yourself challenged and improved and more employable. "Everyone" clearly has no idea what he/she is talking about. Please do not listen to "everyone". Get the facts! Okay, I feel better.
