Find the volume of the figure. A) 111 in3 Eliminate B) 165 in3 C) 201 in3 D) 309 in3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[volume=LWH\]

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

notice, all you have is 2 prisms, get their volume and sum them up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no idea how to find the lengths

OpenStudy (anonymous):

L meaning length and W meaning width and H meaning height.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

? the "lengths" are pretty much given

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

look at the picture above

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just had trouble

OpenStudy (anonymous):

finding the height of the one standing up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and the length

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i knew the first volume was 84

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the figure on the right

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

did you look at the picture I posted ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

But without the picture, i had trouble finding the length, width and height of the figure on the right

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

hmm... I see, well the width and height are given for the one standing up, now the length well, you'd just have to look at the other's FAR LEFT side, to see the length is 3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but tysm for the help

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

yw

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The length is 7 inches on the first rectangle. And it says 10 all the way across the bottom so if you subtract 7 from 10 and you get 3. And the width is 3 inches. And the height is 4. now multiply them all together.\[7 \times 3 \times 4\] you answer should be 84 and now you have the volume for the first rectangular prism. Now you start on the next one... The length is 9... The width is 3 inches... and we can assume the height is 4 sense the other one is and they both have the same width. now you multiply \[9\times3\times4\] And this should equal 108 now you add 108 and 84 and you should get 192 and that is you answer 192
