linearly dependent means
a* u + b*v = third vector
where a and b are any real number.
u+v is a linear combination of u and v, so NOT linearly independent
0* u + 0*v = 0 --> so (0,u,v) NOT
u*v is not linear. It may be independent, but not linearly independent
