PLEASE HELP ASAP!!! How can I find the domain and range of this function.... i got no solution f(x)=(x^2+x-2)/(x^2-3x-4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the definition of the domain and range?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

theyre not referring to the x and y values, if thats what youre asking

OpenStudy (ranga):

Domain is all the allowed values for x. Range is all values of f(x) for the domain determined in the previous step. Here we have an expression in the denominator. We know we cannot divide by 0. So (x^2-3x-4) should NOT be zero. Find when x^2-3x-4 becomes 0 and exclude those values from the domain. All other values of x are allowed.

this helped so much! thanks
